Matthew McConaughey has been one of the busiest actors around in the last few years and that trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down. According to Collider, McConaughey has been cast in Harmony Korine’s upcoming movie, The Beach Bum.

The Beach Bum will follow Moondog, played by McConaughey who is a rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large, to be honest, it sounds like one of the actor’s older roles in the vein of his Fool’s Gold or Failure to Launch era. The movie also acts as a stoner comedy though and the Oscar-winning actor made his debut portraying a character very similar in Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused. I’m not a huge fan of Korine as many others. I think Spring Breakers is one of the worst films ever made but Gummo is interesting and in a stoner comedy if he can bring out the best in McConaughey, I think it’s worth a viewing.

McConaughey can be seen in theaters over 50 pounds heavier than normal in Gold right now. He’ll be seen this year in the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower where he’ll play the villainous, Man in Black. He’s been popular on our site recently as he’s also been cast in the crime/drama White Boy Rick to which he’ll play the father of the titular character. He’s also just been cast alongside Anne Hathaway in the Steven Knight directed, Serenity. Seems like there isn’t much stoppage in the McConaissance anytime soon!
