It’s been quite a while since Will Ferrell has had a hit and that’s incredibly sad because he’s a terrific comedian. In the last 4 years, Ferrell has starred in glaring comedic disappointments like Zoolander 2, Get Hard, Daddy’s Home and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and needs a boost to showcase his true talents. Unfortunately, the trailer for his newest movie, The House, doesn’t seem to have him trending in the right direction.

The House follows Ferrell and fellow SNL alum, Amy Poehler in what actually is a good premise in which they play the parents of a young girl who gets accepted to her dream college before discovering that they don’t have the funds to send her to that school. They then recruit Jason Mantzoukas (Rafi from The League) to help them run an illegal casino to get the money to put their daughter through college. The problem with the trailer is that most of the jokes don’t hit. It seems like very much the same little chuckles one would get out of one of Ferrell or even Poehler’s latest (Sisters wasn’t all that good). Hopefully, I’m wrong and this is the type of comedy that gets both comedic legends back on top but my thoughts after this trailer is that will not be the case.

Check out the trailer below for The House! The movie stars Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Jason Mantzoukas, Ryan Simpkins, Nick Kroll and Rob Huebel. It opens in theaters on June 30th
