It’s clear that Marvel’s outlier in terms of solo movies have been the Thor films. Though I’m a fan of the first movie directed by Kenneth Branagh, Thor: The Dark World was obviously the worst MCU effort as it seemed like one of the only failures Marvel Studios has had since beginning their own cinematic universe. The latest effort in the Thor series however has a much different feel, tone and excitement around it and we have the new trailer for it right now!

Thor: Ragnarok follows the God of Thunder in a scenario he’s not used to. With his home, Asgard being threatened by the villainous Hela, Thor becomes imprisoned on the other side of the universe fighting for his life. He must return home to Asgard to help his people but before he does that, he must fight his former ally and fellow Avenger, The Incredible Hulk. The trailer reeks of a similar tone to Guardians of the Galaxy with bright colors, tons of humor and rock music throughout; look for a possible unification between the two movies, I’m guessing a post-credit scene. The film was in my most-anticipated list of the year and after seeing this trailer, I’m even more excited to see the different approach Marvel is taking with Thor: Ragnarok.

You can watch the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok below! The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins. Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople, What We Do in the Shadows) will direct the movie that will be released on November 3rd!
