The latest live-action Planet of the Apes franchise has been very well-received for the most part since its rebirth in 2011 with Rupert Wyatt’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I’m a huge fan of the first film that starred James Franco, Frieda Pinto, John Lithgow and of course, the motion capture king, Andy Serkis as the incredibly intelligent ape, Caesar. Now, we have the newest trailer for the third film in the trilogy now helmed by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Cloverfield) titled War for the Planet of the Apes.

War for the Planet of the Apes will follow the epic battle that is heating up between humans and apes in which the Colonel of the human army sets out his plan to exterminate all the apes in existence. It’s clear to see within this trailer that this film will be the culmination of the trilogy and be of a grand scale. It’s also a good sign that this trailer provides that big-budget feel with Reeves now helming the widely-anticipated DC film, The Batman.

Check out the new trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes below! The film stars Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Judy Greer and Karin Konoval. War for the Planet of the Apes is in theaters everywhere on July 14th.
