Robert De Niro is Bernie Madoff in first trailer for HBO movie, 'The Wizard of Lies'

            It’s sad to see but it seems that legendary actor Robert De Niro might be losing his touch. All three of his 2016 films (Dirty Grandpa, Hands of Stone, The Comedian) were destroyed by critics but his first entry into 2017 could garner him awards praise at the respective television awards with HBO original movie, The Wizard of Lies, which we have the first trailer for you below.

            The Wizard of Lies follows De Niro as the notorious criminal tycoon, Bernie Madoff whose empire came tumbling down after he revealed that he was running a Ponzi scheme. It was the largest financial fraud in U.S. history and he was later arrested for his actions. The movie also showcases the struggles of the rest of the Madoff family, including his sons Mark and Andrew. Both now passed away but Mark had hanged himself two years after his father was arrested so I’m interested to see how the film dives into that if they do whatsoever. The trailer looks great though and the premium network has done great work in the past with their original movies so I have high hopes for this.

            Check out the trailer below for The Wizard of Lies! The movie stars De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Alessandro Nivola, Nathan Darrow, Kristen Connolly, Lily Rabe and Hank Azaria. The film arrives on HBO on May 20^th.
