Here’s some interesting movie news to jumpstart your week, according to THR, Amy Schumer is in talks to star in the long-in-the-works Barbie movie. It’s being described by the studio as a “contemporary spin on beauty, feminism, and identity” which is always a good sign, especially when the movie is based on such an iconic toy such as Barbie dolls.

Amy Schumer is one of the hottest rising stars in Hollywood with her Comedy Central series, Inside Amy Schumer being widely beloved as was her starring role in the Judd Apatow film, Trainwreck which Schumer also wrote. I loved Trainwreck but I am not a big fan of Schumer’s stand-up comedy and if she is indeed cast as Barbie, it’s for sure an interesting approach as she is known as quite the raunchy personality.

Schumer hasn’t been seen in a feature since Trainwreck but she has some other upcoming films including an untitled Mother/Daughter comedy with Schumer and Goldie Hawn that will be directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50, The Night Before). Also, she’s take a chance in dramatic work with Thank You for Your Service that also stars Miles Teller and Haley Bennett in 2017.
