It’s hard to argue not continuing with the Fast & the Furious franchise after the mega success that was Furious 7. Part of that success has to do with the passing of one of the stars of the series, Paul Walker appearing in his last film. Having said that, the seventh installment made over $1.5 billion on a $190 million dollar budget so it was inevitable that an eighth film would be made. Well, we now have a trailer for the upcoming film titled, The Fate of the Furious.

This installment goes in a bit of a different direction though as Dom turns on his family by teaming up with the villainous character played by Charlize Theron. It’s an interesting shift as he’s been known throughout the movies to have family first always but there is definitely still the dynamic of explosions, colorful personalities and physics-defying vehicular massacre throughout. The trailer accomplished everything it needed too and for that I would say it was successful and made me want to see this film. With the explosive cast and newest addition in the director’s chair with F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Italian Job), I would say that this could wind up being the best movie in the universe since Fast Five.

Check out the trailer below for The Fate of the Furious! The movie stars Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell, Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren. The Fate of the Furious opens everywhere on April 14th, 2017.
