We have finally gotten our first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s WWII drama, Dunkirk and after seeing it, it might be my most anticipated movie of all of 2017. The iconic director who’s helmed films like Inception, Memento and The Dark Knight trilogy is going out of his comfort zone to work within the genre of war films.

Dunkirk follows the historical true event in which an evacuation of 330,000 Allied soldiers were rescued when being surrounded by German forces. The trailer is brilliant and its clear that the movie is going to be much more about the soldiers as a unit rather than individuals as no one actor is given a huge moment to take away from fellow characters. The interesting dynamic is that the movie is rated PG-13 and will depict war so I’m curious to see how Nolan will be able to handle this and still make it feel like an authentic battleground.

Watch the magnificent trailer for Dunkirk below! The film stars Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, Aneurin Barnard, James D’Arcy. Jack Lowden, Barry Keoghan, Tom Glynn-Carney and Harry Styles. It opens everywhere on July 21st, 2017.
