First look at 'Mudbound' shows a possible Oscar contender for 2017

            The HBO movie, Bessie was incredibly well-received and a big part of that was due to the direction from Dee Rees. Now, we have images for her latest film, Mudbound, that looks to be an engrossing post WWII drama.

            Mudbound is based on the book by Hillary Jordan and features two families that are pitted against a barbaric social hierarchy and an unrelenting landscape as they fight the battle at home and abroad in the South years after World War II. This sounds awesome and has plenty of star power attached which could make it a contender for the Academy Awards next year.

            Mudbound stars Garrett Hedlund, Carey Mulligan, Jason Mitchell, Mary J. Blige and Jason Clarke and will debut at the Sundance Film Festival which runs from January 19^th-29^th 2017. Check out the first images under the headline and below!
