First Trailer for 'Haunted Mansion' Reveals an All-Star Cast Assembling to Battle the Frightening Terrors Based on the Iconic Disney Ride

by Darian Scalamoni
Get ready, foolish mortals and prepare yourselves for the first trailer for Haunted Mansion hitting theaters this July! The frightening adventure comedy film based on the popular Disney theme park ride is set to haunt theaters this Summer after a few date changes with a surprisingly deep roster of talent.

Haunted Mansion follows single mother Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) who purchases an old mansion in New Orleans for a surprisingly low price. As she moves in with her son, they quickly realize that the affordability factor might be due to the house being haunted by spirits and ghosts alike. To fend off the dead, Gabbie brings in a team of misfits: a priest (Owen Wilson), a psychic (Tiffany Haddish), a historian (Danny DeVito) and a paranormal "expert" (LaKeith Stanfield) to help. This isn't Disney's first attempt at making a film based on the iconic ride as Eddie Murphy starred in a 2003 film of the same name.

Many of the attraction's moments are on full display within the trailer; whether it be the hatbox ghost, the stretching walls or someone that closely resembles Constance Hatchaway haunting the new owners. Justin Simien (Dear White People, Bad Hair) directs the film off a script from Katie Dippold (The Heat, Parks and Recreation).

Check out the first trailer for Haunted Mansion below! The film stars Dawson, Wilson, Haddish, DeVito, Stanfield, Jared Leto, Dan Levy, Winona Ryder, Hasan Minhaj and Jamie Lee Curtis. Haunted Mansion hits theaters on July 28.
