Sigourney Weaver Joins Miles Teller & Anya Taylor-Joy to Lead Apple Film 'The Gorge'

    The Gorge, the latest project coming from Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange, The Black Phone) is assembling quite the cast. According to a report from Deadline, Sigourney Weaver (Avatar: The Way of Water, Alien) is joining the previously reported Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick, Whiplash) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen's Gambit, The Witch) for the film that will be distributed by Apple. 

    Derrickson will direct and produce the film coming from a script that was written by Zach Dean (The Tomorrow War) and though plot details are being kept under wraps, The Gorge is described as a high-action, genre bending love story. Having amassed a number of actors coming off respective big years last year, it's sure to catch a number of eyeballs when comes time for release. 

    Weaver is coming off her return to the world of Pandora in James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water, which is now the fourth highest grossing movie of all-time. She also starred in historical drama Call Jane alongside Kata Mara and Elizabeth Banks which hits Hulu later this month.

    Teller is coming off a 2022 that included his role as Rooster in Best Picture nominee Top Gun: Maverick. He also starred in the limited series The Offer on Paramount+ based on the making of The Godfather in which Teller played Albert S. Ruddy.

    Taylor-Joy starred in the food-based thriller The Menu last year. She'll next voice Princess Peach in the widely anticipated animated feature Super Mario Bros. Following that voice role, she'll play a younger version of Charlize Theron's character from Mad Max: Fury Road in the prequel film Furiosa with Chris Hemsworth.
