First Trailer for 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem' brings Turtle Power to the Big Screen with Exquisite 'Spider-Verse'-type Animation

by Darian Scalamoni
I grew up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it's been an auspicious road for the NYC sewage reptiles turned martial artists across animation and surprisingly, live-action. Now, Seth Rogen is taking a crack at the code to bring new fans into the fold while still appeasing diehards of the franchise with a take that looks similar in tone and animation-style to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with the first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

In Mutant Mayhem, the four turtles (Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello & Raphael) are more to their name than usual played by real teenagers, and it's showcased throughout the trailer. The titular heroes in half shells are learning the way to truly defend their city from wrongdoers especially iconic villains Rocksteady and Bebop. Rogen produces the pic with his producing partner Evan Goldberg and Point Grey Pictures' James Weaver for Paramount and Nickelodeon as the first animated version of the turtles to hit the big screen since 2007 and the first TMNT film since 2017's live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) will direct.

Nicolas Cantu, Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr. and Brady Noon will voice the turtles while Rogen will voice Bebop partnering up with John Cena as Rocksteady. Legendary actor Jackie Chan will voice Master Splinter, the rat sensei that trains the turtles in the martial arts while April O'Neil will be voiced by The Bear star Ayo Edebiri. The film also features a voice cast that further includes Rose Byrne, Paul Rudd, Hannibal Burres, Ice Cube, Natasia Demetriou, Giancarlo Esposito, Maya Rudolph and Post Malone.

Check out the first trailer and poster below for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem! The animated feature hits theaters worldwide on August 3, 2023.
