All
aboard the nostalgia train! Many people have been clamoring for these two to
reunite as their cult characters and now we can confirm that it’s happening.
According to The Playlist, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have officially signed
on to reprise Ted and Bill, respectively.
The
film titled “Bill & Ted Face the Music” will be the third movie in the
franchise and will tell the story of the now middle-aged friends with families
of their own and how they must reunite to find the magical song that will bring
harmony to the universe after a visitor from the future warns them that their
music can save everyone. The movie will have Bill & Ted traveling along
with their daughters (who we anticipate could be the eventual stars of a
spinoff series) and meeting a new selection of historical figures to lead into
the adventure.
“Bill
& Ted Face the Music” is written by the men who started it all back in
1989, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. Dean Parisot, whose best known for
directing “Galaxy Quest” but more recently episodes of Netflix series “Santa
Clarita Diet” and “Grace and Frankie” will helm the third installment.
No word
on the release date for the project but it’s currently in pre-production. When Reeves
and Winter were asked about of reuniting they said, “We couldn’t be more
excited to get the whole band back together again. Chris and Ed wrote an amazing
script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team!”
It appears that the project
is in excellent shape!
