Even following the unfortunate circumstances that was
the conclusion of “Avengers: Infinity War,” it seems there is no stopping the MCU
going forward, especially after “Avengers 4” ends this current phase of movies.
Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney said in a recent earnings call that the Marvel
Cinematic Universe isn’t going anyway but the new direction that Kevin Feige
and the Russo brothers have been alluding to for months is certainly on the
horizon.
“We
meet on a regular basis with our Marvel team, and we’ve plotted out Marvel
movies that will take us well into the next decade,” said Iger. “I’m guessing
we will try our hand at what I’ll call a new franchise beyond ‘Avengers,’ but
that doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t see more ‘Avengers’ down the road. We
just haven’t made any announcements about that.”
It
seems that in Iger’s comments, one can think there will be more than just
roster turnover which many have speculated thus far. Different storyline arcs could
be coming in Phase 4 but we know it will feature “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
3,” “Black Panther 2,” and the sequel to “Spider-Man: Homecoming” which is
scheduled just a couple of months after “Avengers 4.”
What
do you guys think of this news? What comic book storylines would you like to
see after the next “Avengers” film? Let us know in the comments!
