Peele wowed just about everyone with his directorial debut, “Get Out.” A social
horror film that financially and critically was a juggernaut for 2017. Peele
won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay while he also was nominated
for Best Director so many have been awaiting news on his follow-up. Now, we
have some casting announcements, a date and a poster to share with you guys.
According
to The Playlist, Peele will next write and direct another horror film titled, “Us.”
The report also states that Lupita Nyong’o, Elisabeth Moss and Winston Duke are
in talks to join the project. There are no plot details that have yet to come
out about “Us” but building a powerhouse combination that includes Peele behind
the camera and three of the hottest stars in Hollywood puts this atop my most-anticipated
list for 2019.
Nyong’o
last appeared in Marvel’s “Black Panther” and will be seen next reprising her
role as Maz Kanata in another blockbuster franchise for “Star Wars: Episode IX.”
She also recently signed on for Simon Kinberg’s spy thriller “305” alongside
Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard. Duke also appeared in “Black
Panther” and can be seen in theaters currently in the bigger ensemble Marvel
movie, “Avengers: Infinity War.” Moss just signed onto “Her Smell,” which we
reported earlier.
Check
out the poster for “Us” below which hits theaters on March 15th,
2019. Are you guys excited for Peele’s first film to be distributed by
Universal? What about thoughts on the cast? Sound off in the comments below.
