Megyn
Kelly has been in the news for years now, more so with all of her involvement
and interactions with President Trump but it appears that an Academy Award
winner will be portraying her for a different reason. According to Deadline,
Charlize Theron is set to play Kelly in a movie for Annapurna that will focus
on the women of Fox News who worked under Roger Ailes during his time there.
Ailes,
the former chairman of the network resigned in 2016 as he was caught in a
sexual and workplace harassment scandal. Jay Roach, who previously directed All the Way and Trumbo will helm the movie with The
Big Short writer, Charles Randolph penning the script. The project will
feature an ensemble cast with other characters portraying other Fox News
anchors and Ailes during the scandal.
This
is a different kind of role for Theron, but I think it could be terrific for
her. This could propel her to another Oscar nomination if this year’s Tully can’t (though she’s great in Jason
Reitman’s new film). I’m interested to see who will be portraying the other
women in the scandal, especially Gretchen Carlson who filed a $20 million
sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes before his death. Getting Roach and Randolph
on board helps as well with their work in similar type dramas in the past.
How
do you guys feel about Theron playing Kelly? Do you think she’s the right
choice for the role?
