One of the industry’s brightest young filmmakers is heading to TV! Damien Chazelle (La La Land, Whiplash) will be directing another musical project but this time for the small screen with The Eddy, per THR. Jack Thorne, who wrote the stage production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will write the script for the show.

The Eddy is a musical drama series that is set in Paris and revolves around a club, its owner, the house band and the city that surrounds them. The show is not set at a network yet but will surely garner a bidding war between cable, premium and streaming services considering how hot Chazelle is currently. Alan Poul, who previously produced HBO shows Six Feet Under and The Newsroom will act as an Executive Producer on the show so maybe the premium network has an edge?

This will not be Chazelle’s next project as he’s prepping his next feature film, First Man which has La La Land star Ryan Gosling confirmed to play Neil Armstrong in the biopic. That’s set to be released in November 2018 and will likely go in front of cameras later this year. Chazelle isn’t the only recent awards contender to head to TV as Moonlight director, Barry Jenkins is currently working on his own TV project The Underground Railroad for Amazon.
