Ever since The Lego Movie it seems that Hollywood has a knack for trying to make movies about anything. Well, they came up with the inevitable again as The Emoji Movie is just around the corner. That’s right, the icons that you send to friends via text message is being made into a movie and we have the first trailer for whoever is interested.

Though the voice cast is strong, there isn’t much to the actual plot of The Emoji Movie. T.J. Miller voices Gene, who is supposed to have his role in the smartphone world as the “meh” emoji but he’s an exuberant emoji who was born with multiple expressions unlike any of his colleagues in the emoji world. It should make tons of money at the box office and I’m sure kids will adore it but it doesn’t seem like my kind of animated feature.

Check out the trailer for The Emoji Movie below! The voice cast includes Miller, James Corden, Anna Faris, Sofia Vergara, Patrick Stewart and Maya Rudolph. The Emoji Movie opens everywhere on August 4th.
