It was recently that Fox announced that an X-Men spinoff film titled New Mutants would be released but there hadn’t been any news on who would actually star in the film. Well according to THR, we finally have the first two mutants announced as Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams have joined the cast as Magik and Wolfsbane, respectively.

New Mutants follows on a group of teen mutants that band together on adventures to take down villains. Similar to the original team, the New Mutants was the first X-Men comic book spinoff that launched in the early 80’s. The team is as diverse as they come as it includes a Native American named Danielle Moonstar, a Scottish girl Wolfsbane, Brazilian ladies man Sunspot, Ketucky boy named Cannonball and a Russian teen named Magik. It’s also rumored that the alien named Warlock will join the team for the film.

The two young actresses’ characters have interesting powers including Magik’s who learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel, while Wolfsbane is struggling with her religious beliefs who has the ability to turn into a wolf. Magik also happens to be the sister of Colossus, another familiar face in the Marvel universe for Fox.

Taylor-Joy appeared recently in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split and recently signed on to the sequel titled, Glass co-starring James McAvoy, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. Williams is best known for her role as Arya Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones. New Mutants hits theaters on April 13th, 2018.
