It seems that Hulu has finally found its big-time show which could garner awards buzz with their dystopian drama, The Handmaid’s Tale. Early reviews reveal that the show is by far the best that the streaming service has ever produced and even possibly one of the best shows of the year thus far. THR has reported that the show has the best viewership of any Hulu shows to date and they’ve announced that the show has already been given a Season 2 order.

The blossoming network seems to be trending upward as Deadline also reports that they’ve greenlight two new series including, Marvel’s Runaways as well as a show titled The First from Beau Willimon, who used to be the showrunner for Netflix’s House of Cards. These are huge potential projects that Hulu can add to its slate that cover all avenues with a comic book and sci-fi series. Runaways follows the kids of supervillains who discover their parents’ identities and band together as heroes to take them down. The First will showcase the process of intergalactic colonization.

The Handmaid’s Tale is adapted from the Margaret Atwood novel that was published in 1985 and stars Elisabeth Moss. The show is set in a dystopian future in which women are forced under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship. Season 2 of the Hulu original series debuts in 2018.
