Aquaman has been one of the more
anticipated DCEU films due to the content being unlike anything else we’ve seen
in superhero movies before. With a superhero who is known mostly for his
abilities in the water, we could see an immersive and much different sort of
movie than we’ve ever seen from a movie from Marvel or DC. According to Collider, Aquaman has just cast its villain as
Patrick Wilson will play Orm, the half-brother of the titular character who
always has his eyes on the throne of Atlantis.
This
isn’t a very surprising casting addition as Wilson is no stranger to working
with the director of this film, James Wan. He’s starred in three other movies
of his (The Conjuring, Insidious,
Insidious: Chapter 2). In addition to that, it isn’t his first foray into
the comic book movie genre as he played Nite Owl in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen. I like this casting choice as
Wilson has proven in the past to be a good actor but maybe even a great actor
when working with James Wan. The lead character of Aquaman will be played by
Jason Momoa who was seen in a cameo in Batman
v Superman: Dawn of Justice will lead this film and his wife an Queen, Mera
will be played by Amber Heard.
How
do you guys feel about the casting of Patrick Wilson as Orm? It sounds to me
very much like the dynamic between Thor and Loki in the Thor films but I think
it’ll work great with these two actors just as well as it worked with Chris
Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. Aquaman
will be released in theaters on October 5th, 2018.
