It’s
been quite a while since I’ve tuned in to watch, but Masters of Sex was a quality show for Showtime. It was an
interesting presence and had some great acting talent on hand with Michael
Sheen, Lizzy Caplan and Beau Bridges, just to name a few, it seems the network
didn’t agree though. According to THR, Masters
of Sex will be cancelled following the Season 4 finale.
For
those who don’t know what the show is about, it is based on Thomas Maier’s
biography of sex researchers, William Masters and Virginia Johnson who later
got married. The show amassed 11 Emmy nominations over its four seasons,
including a win for Allison Janney’s guest role.
Showtime
is rapidly losing programming though as Episodes
is set to end in 2017, while Penny
Dreadful and House of Lies ended
this year as well. Cameron Crowe’s Roadies
didn’t hit as it ended after one season before getting canned but they do still
have Shameless, The Affair, Ray Donovan
and Billions that have been doing
great on the network, even with the loss of viewers for once time top show, Homeland. Upcoming programming for the
network includes Just Kids, I’m Dying Up
Here, Purity, Guerrilla and the revival of Twin Peaks.
