For
all of the success that Netflix has had with its original programming, many
have waited to see when the first failure would come. Well today, it seems they
have an epic one on their hands. According to Deadline,
Netflix has cancelled Marco Polo
after 2 seasons.
The
show followed the famous 13th century merchant and explorer and was
inspired by Marco Polo’s early years in the court of Kublai Khan. It’s not
surprising that the show was cancelled as the period piece had a large setting
thus it had a huge budget. It had a decent viewership in its first season
launched in 2014, but season 2 had nowhere near the same numbers.
This
was a show that no one was ever talking about so it really isn’t a surprise
that it was cancelled from the streaming giant, especially with the budget. I’ve
never watched the series butI was never intrigued from what I’ve seen so this
isn’t a disappointing news story for me. How do you guys feel? Any fans of Marco Polo feel this show should have
continued?
