Back in
November, we reported that Joaquin Phoenix would be reuniting with Gus Van Sant
for the film, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get
Far on Foot and it seems that cast might be even more studded than we
thought. According to Variety,
Jonah Hill and Rooney Mara are in talks to join the cast of the biopic.
The
movie will follow Phoenix as a quadriplegic cartoonist John Callahan who turned
to drawing as a form of therapy after he became paralyzed after a car accident
at age 21. His drawing appeared in the Portland newspaper, the Willamette Week
and his town reacted with protest due to his vulgar subject matter. His works
later appeared in magazines like The New Yorker, Penthouse and Playboy. It’s
unclear at this time who Hill and Mara would play at this time but Variety also
reports that Amazon Studios is the frontrunner to land the distribution rights.
Mara
and Phoenix just wrapped filming Mary
Magdalene in which they played the title character and Jesus respectively.
Hill, who was just nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in War Dogs
is prepping for his directorial debut Mid-90s.
Also, he’s set to reunite with Superbad
co-star Emma Stone in Cary Fukunaga’s Netflix series, Maniac.
