Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths) is one of the most underappreciated filmmakers in the world working today. The director has helmed some of the best dark comedies ever and he’s back with another terrific ensemble with the trailer for his next film, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri follows a mother who is running out of patience with local police after failing to find her daughter’s killer and decides to take matters into her own hands. This starts with her making three billboards in her town that draw a lot of attention in her town especially from the sheriff. This trailer is laugh-out loud funny and showcases its masterful cast while invoking that twisted comedy that McDonagh brings to all of his prior movies. If you haven’t seen any of McDonagh’s work before this, go ahead and see both In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths to prep for this film. McDormand clearly seems to have a strong, central performance, so much so that she can garner awards recognition for the first time since 2005. I’ll be there opening night for this film as it placed pretty high on my most anticipated list for 2017 which you can see right here.

Check out the first red-band trailer below for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri! The film stars McDormand, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, John Hawkes, Peter Dinklage and Lucas Hedges. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri opens in theaters later this year.
