It seems like it’s been trailer mania this week with CinemaCon happening, plenty of previews for 2017’s hottest movies are being released. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets joins that list as the sci-fi epic from the mind of Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Leon: The Professional) has dropped its newest trailer.

The “dream” project for Besson is based on the French comic titled Valerian and Laureline, first published back in 1967. Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne star as special operatives for the government of human territories as they try to maintain order throughout the galaxy. These two humans are assigned a task in the intergalactic city of Alpha, which puts them in danger before warfare arises. The movie is definitely an epic and you can see the passion from Besson bleed on the screen but to be honest, I’m not as impressed as many others might be. It sure looks different than anything else we’ve seen but still has a bit of a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe to it. Besson has also claimed that he wants to make a sequel but I’ll reserve judgment before seeing the film and assessing just how successful it is for the studio.

Check out the latest trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets below! The film stars DeHaan, Delevingne, Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Herbie Hancock and Kris Wu. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will be released on July 21st!
