Joseph Gordon-Levitt gave the public a unique first film under his directorial belt with Don Jon, but now it seems he’s taking a more ambitious approach for his next effort in the director’s chair. According to Variety, Gordon-Levitt will direct and star with Channing Tatum for Wingmen, an R-rated musical comedy.

Wingmen follows two pilots who crash in Las Vegas and get into a hilarious musical journey covering top 100 hits with a hint of adult humor. The film was pitched to Universal by Gordon-Levitt and Michael Bacall, writer of the Jump Street movies as Pitch Perfect meets Book of Mormon. The idea is genius especially with the talent involved; Tatum and Gordon-Levitt have had their fair share of involvement with musical programs and films. Tatum starred in Hail, Caesar! and also did his fair share of dancing in the Magic Mike movies while Gordon-Levitt has performed on his show HitRecord.

The film isn’t to start production for quite a while as Tatum has a very busy schedule ahead as shooting for Triple Frontier is set to begin soon with Tatum and Tom Hardy. He’ll be seen next in Kingsman: The Secret Service and Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lucky. Gordon-Levitt also has some projects in development including Fraggle Rock and K Troop.
