Courtney B. Vance to Play Cobra Bubbles in Live-Action 'Lilo & Stitch'

by Darian Scalamoni
We had our first report back in February that Zach Galifianakis will be joining Disney's live-action retelling of Lilo & Stitch. Now, we have additional casting news from Deadline, as we can confirm the report that Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story, The Hunt for Red October) will be joining the cast as Cobra Bubbles.

The Emmy and Tony-Award winning actor joins the previously mentioned Galifianakis, but since our latest report the film has also added Billy Magnussen, Maia Kealoha, Sydney Agudong and Kahiau Machado. The latter three actors will play Lilo, Nani and David Kawena respectively, meanwhile, Chris Sanders will return to voice experiment 626 himself. Ving Rhames voiced Cobra Bubbles in the original Disney animated film from 2002.

The live-action remake was announced a few years ago and is schedule to release in theaters on May 10, 2024. Dean Fleischer-Camp, who directed the beloved 2022 film, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On will direct the remake that will release exclusively on Disney+. Dan Lin and his Rideback production banner will produce while Hawaiian native Chris Kekaniokalani Bright will write the script.

Vance is a two-time Emmy winner, first for his terrific take on Johnnie Cochran in the first season of American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson. He also earned an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role in HBO's Lovecraft Country. He most recently starred in the AMC series 61st Street and will next lead the feature film, Heist 88.
