It's been quite a while since Modern Family star Julie Bowen has been in the spotlight, but now, she's getting ready to lead her own show on Peacock. Variety reports that Bowen (Happy Gilmore, Modern Family) will star in the forthcoming series titled Hysteria!

Hysteria! is a coming-of-age horror series that will dive into the dark history of American mass hysteria through the eyes of a teenage heavy metal band that goes by the name, Satanic Panic. With the story set in the 1980s, the band realizes that they can take advantage of the town's sudden interest in cults and devil culture until a scary string of murders, kidnappings and supernatural activity triggers an inquisition that leads many of the townspeople right back to them.

Bowen is set to play Linda Campbell, a mother of one of the teenage outcasts who discovers her own series of supernatural occurrences that force her to question her son and his intentions. Hysteria! was ordered to series back in August 2022 with recent Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein acting as executive producers. Additionally, Jordan Vogt Roberts (Kong: Skull Island, The Kings of Summer) will direct the first episode of the series.

Bowen is best known for her Emmy Award winning performance as Claire Dunphy in ABC's Modern Family where she starred for 11 seasons. She most recently appeared in Netflix's Mixtape and The Fallout which co-starred Jenna Ortega. She also appeared in an episode of the recent season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
