Marvel is taking over the
world. With high profile castings galore, the additions don’t seem to be
stopping anytime soon. With Black Panther
being due out in 2018 and already having a plethora of African-American actors
in the cast such as Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and
Danai Gurira, it seems they wanted to add a veteran actor to the bunch.
According
to Variety,
Marvel has cast Academy Award winner, Forest Whitaker in Black Panther as Zuri, an elder statesman of Wakanda. It seems to
be filling the normal role in some MCU films as the established actor to bring
another level of excitement to the superhero spectacle; similar to Tommy Lee
Jones and Robert Redford in the Captain
America movies as well as Michael Douglas in Ant-Man.
This
casting news is incredibly exciting because Whitaker is one of the most
talented actors working today. Not only that, but he is new to the Disney
family as he has a role in the upcoming Rogue
One: A Star Wars Story opening in December. He’ll be seen next month as
well in Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival
alongside Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.
Black Panther will be released on
February 16th, 2018. Be sure to check the site for more Marvel
TV/Movie news whenever!
