Cate Blanchett constantly is joining more ambitious projects year-by-year. Within the last five years, she’s worked with Woody Allen, Peter Jackson, George Clooney, Todd Haynes, Terrence Malick (twice!) and has a Marvel movie set for November. Now, she’s working with a surprising filmmaker for her next potential project. According to THR, Blanchett is set to join The House With a Clock in Its Walls directed by Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel).

The often eyebrow raising director is stepping away from his normal fare with his latest though as Blanchett and Jack Black will star in the movie based on the 1973 book of the same name from John Bellairs. The House With a Clock in Its Walls follows a young boy who discovers that his Uncle’s house is filled with secrets and they must locate a clock with the power to bring the end of the world. It sure sounds like a different project for Roth but I’m excited to see the finished product.

Blanchett will star in Thor: Ragnarok in November but also has more high-profile projects in her future. In 2018 alone, she’ll star in Richard Linklater’s Where’d You Go, Bernadette, voice Kaa in Andy Serkis’ live-action Jungle Book and star in Ocean’s Eight, the female-led spinoff of Ocean’s Eleven.

What do you guys think of Cate Blanchett starring in Eli Roth’s next film? Are you excited with the way The House With a Clock in Its Walls is coming together? Sound off in the comment section and let us know!
