We
are still almost two and half years away from Avatar 2, the sequel to the highest grossing film of all-time
directed by James Cameron. That’ll be a decade after the first movie but the
train to Pandora isn’t stopping anytime soon as there are three more sequels
besides Avatar 2 upcoming. We’re
getting more news now as Cameron confirmed in an interview with Empire,
that Stephen Lang will return for ALL of the sequels reprising his role as
Colonel Miles Quaritch.
“The
interesting conceit of the Avatar
sequels is it’s pretty much the same characters. There are new characters and a
lot of new settings and creatures, so I’m taking characters you know and
putting them in unfamiliar places and moving them on this greater journey. But
it’s not a whole bunch of new characters every time. There’s not a new villain
every time, which is interesting. Same guy. Same motherfucker through all four
movies. He is so good and he just gets better. I know Stephen Lang is gonna
knock this out of the park.”
It’s reassuring
that we’ll see new settings and characters for the movies but I’m also glad
that Lang will be returning as I thought he was brilliant in the original movie
from 2009. I think this is such an ambitious thing for Cameron to do to have 4
more Avatar movies from 2020-2025 but
as we’ve learned before, it’s hard to bet against the director of the two
highest-grossing movies of all-time.
What
do you guys think about hearing that Stephen Lang will return for all of the Avatar sequels? Do you even want to see
more from Pandora? Let us know in the comment section!
