With
Sony building up their own Spider-Man universe that may or may not include Tom
Holland’s Spider-Man (weird right?) they’re focusing their attention on Venom which will star Tom Hardy as the
iconic comic book character. Now, the cast is being bolstered with another
terrific talent. According to The
Playlist, Riz Ahmed will join Venom as what is being called “a popular
Marvel Comics character”.
Ahmed
has been building quite the resume in the last few years starring in movies
like Nightcrawler, Rogue One: A Star Wars
Story and Jason Bourne. He’s also
built a fantastic TV career since his starring role in the HBO limited series, The Night Of. There have been rumblings
that Ahmed will play Carnage in the movie and I think that would be fantastic
so here’s hoping that comes to fruition. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) will direct Ahmed and Hardy in the superhero
flick.
Ahmed
is currently filming The Sisters Brothers
alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly. Venom will hit theaters on October 5th,
2018. How do you guys feel about Riz Ahmed being cast in Venom? Do you think he’ll play Carnage and if not, who would you
want to see him play? Sound off in the comments below!
