Dafne Keen had a standout, star-making performance in the gritty, R-rated comic book film, Logan back in 2017. She starred alongside Hugh Jackman as his daughter, Laura, also known in the comics as X-23. Now, she has been cast to make her debut in a series that is set in a galaxy far, far away.

According to a report from Jeff Sneider via The Hot Mic Podcast and Above the Line, Dafne Keen will be joining the Star Wars universe in the new series, The Acolyte which is currently filming. Keen is currently starring in the third and final season of His Dark Materials on HBO, which is based on a series of novels by the same name written by Philip Pullman. Keen plays the show's lead, Lyra Belacqua in the fantasy drama that also stars Ruth Wilson, James McAvoy and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The Acolyte was first announced back in April 2020 and is set to be the first Star Wars project set in the newly established, canonized High Republic era of this sci-fi universe. The eight-episode series will debut on Disney+ and takes place before all major events that occur within the other films and TV shows we have seen from the franchise. It's said that The Acolyte will cover "the shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers" of the High Republic which is set approximately 100 years prior to The Phantom Menace.

Keen joins the already cast Amandla Stenberg, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Charlie Bennett and Squid Game's Lee Jung-jae. Leslye Headland, who previously co-created Netflix's Russian Doll created The Acolyte and will also uncover the sleeker, more royal period and corner of this universe that hasn't been shown on-screen to this point. The Acolyte began filming last month in the United Kingdom.

What do you guys think of Dafne Keen being cast within The Acolyte? Are you excited for this series? What is something you hope to see within this new cinematic time period for Star Wars? Let us know in the comments!
