Aubrey Plaza Joins the Witchy Cast of Marvel's 'Agatha: Coven of Chaos'

    Aubrey Plaza has evolved as an actress in many ways since coming onto the scene in NBC's sitcom, Parks & Recreation in 2009. She recently made her return to the small screen with her role in Season 2 of The White Lotus but has also been turning in terrific performances in 2022 for smaller films such as Spin Me Round and Emily the Criminal. Now, Plaza is set to make her MCU debut in one of the latest Disney+ series that is set to go into production very soon. 

    According to Deadline, Plaza has been cast in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, a spinoff of the very first Disney+ series from Marvel, WandaVision. Though Plaza's role is currently being held under wraps, it's believed that she may be serving as the villain of the show opposite the titular Agatha Harkness, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn in WandaVision and the recently cast Joe Locke, who is expected to be playing the older version of Billy Maximoff, Wanda's son.

    Jac Schaeffer, the creator, writer and executive producer of WandaVision will also serve in the same roles for Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Schaeffer signed a joint overall deal with Marvel and 20th Television following the success of her first Disney+ series and there are rumors that she is involved in another project for Marvel revolving around Paul Bettany's Vision character.

    Plaza has the ability to play deadpan incredibly well but also can play insane and vulnerable whilst having comedy chops. This is almost too perfect of casting not only for Marvel but this project in particular. Though this will be her first role in a project for Disney's Marvel Studios, Plaza also had a role in FX's Legion which is based on comic book characters from the X-Men comics. Plaza is currently filming Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis and just recently wrapped filming a series for Hulu, Olga Dies Dreaming, in which Plaza stars.
