'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' Looks to be a Fun Ride That Features All of Nintendo's Most Beloved Characters in its First Full-Length Trailer

It was largely ridiculed when Chris Pratt was cast as the figurehead for Nintendo in The Super Mario Bros. Movie as iconic Italian plumber Mario. When the teaser trailer was released, and we got a snippet of what Pratt's take on the character would sound like, more were disappointed by his lack of an accent. Now, the first full-length trailer is here for everyone to voice their opinion and here's mine: I think the film genuinely looks like a ton of fun.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie features a story in which Bowser (voiced by Jack Black) is set to take over the world but standing in his way is a man in a bright red hat and overalls named Mario. Despite this, Bowser sets off to intimidate anyone who may be associated with the majorly popular video game character. Whether that be Luigi (voiced by Charlie Day), Toad (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key) or the love of his life, Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy). The trailer features nostalgia for many of the tropes that come along with Mario's past adventures including imagery from the games, battles between characters and even a legendary Rainbow Road that's particularly memorable from Mario Kart.

The Super Mario Bros. looks to follow in the footsteps of other animated film franchises such as The Lego Movie or Angry Birds with its animation style and universal appeal. You can watch The Super Mario Bros. first full-length trailer down below! The film released in theaters on April 7, 2023.
