We are back for another edition of What's New This Week? This column covers all the best movies and television that is coming to streaming and broadcast this week, especially highlighting the new releases for premieres, returns and debuts. Without further ado, let's see what you guys should be watching for the week of November 14th-20th.

Disenchanted on November 18th (Disney+)
Fifteen years after the original "fish out of water" tale of Enchanted starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, Disney+ will premiere the sequel, Disenchanted this FridayAdams and Dempsey reprise their roles alongside Idina Menzel and James Marsden as well as newcomer Maya Rudolph in the film that takes place 10 years after the original fantasy film where Gisselle begins to question her happiness following her move from Manhattan back to her fairy tale kingdom of Andalasia which has a direct effect on her environment and the people around it. The film has been rumored for years and finally, because of the streaming success of so many Disney films, Disenchanted is destined to do great on Disney+ ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Disenchanted will premiere on Disney+ this Friday, November 18th.

1899 on November 17th (Netflix)
From the creative minds behind the Germany's sci-fi Netflix original, Dark, comes a very ambitious multi-language series, 1899. This mystery thriller follows the inhabitants of a 19th century ship bound to America from Europe before encountering a mysterious sea vessel in the middle of the Atlantic that potentially has a paranormal connection. The series has big expectations as it is the most expensive German show ever made which is not surprising following the brilliance of their last show for Netflix, creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar were handed the keys to the castle, so to speak for the streaming giant. The series stars Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann and Miguel Bernardeau. 1899 premieres on Netflix this Thursday, November 17th.

The Sex Lives of College Girls (Season 2) on November 17th (HBO Max)
The most successful show to come out of Mindy Kaling's overall deal at Warner Discovery has to be the female-centered teen comedy, The Sex Lives of College Girls. The first season followed four college roommates at a fictional college in Vermont covering their sexual adventures amidst the struggles, hardship and adventure that is college. Season 2 features the leads Kimberly, Bela, Leighton and Whitney as they return from Fall break continuing their freshman year at Essex with more laughs, more drama and obviously, more sex. The series is very well-written and is not just a sexually exploitive romp but a goofy albeit realistic look at how the world looks for young, confident females. The Sex Lives of College Girls' second season begins streaming this Thursday, November 17th only on HBO Max.

Spirited on November 18th (AppleTV+)
Apple continues to push the envelope while developing their own original content with no back catalogue of older programs to entice viewers, even though they've had a terrific last year, including a Best Picture win at the Academy Awards for CODA. Now, they're back with their first original Christmas movie, Spirited starring two fan favorites, Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. The highly anticipated holiday musical comedy film was developed back in 2019 and is finally being released a week before Thanksgiving to give audiences a jumpstart and welcome into true holiday programming. Spirited is a play on the story of Scrooge but there's a twist on the classic Dickens tale, this year, the ghost of Christmas present sent the wrong Scrooge. Ferrell invades Reynolds' character of Clint Briggs' life and we're off to the races. This film looks hilarious and combines two powerhouse comedic talents and box-office draws. It should be an instant hit for AppleTV+ as they hole out franchises and original IP for their streaming service. Spirited premieres on AppleTV+ this Friday, November 18th.

Fleishman is in Trouble on November 17th (FX/Hulu)
The miniseries based on the 2019 novel is on here because I'm being bias, but I think this series looks very intriguing. Behind an all-star cast that includes Jesse Eisenberg, Claire Danes, Lizzy Caplan, Christian Slater, Adam Brody and Josh Radnor, the limited series follows a recently divorced New York doctor named Toby Fleishman who is thrown for a loop after his ex-wife disappears and leaves him with their two children. In balancing his newly single life, being a father and a promotion at work, Fleishman realizes that the key to finding his ex-wife is discovering what went wrong in their marriage in the first place. Fleishman is in Trouble will air on FX and be available to stream on Hulu this Thursday, November 17th.
