What's New This Week? (November 7th-November 13th)

by Darian Scalamoni
Welcome back to another edition of, What's New This Week? This column will cover the major film and television releases for the week across all the major streamers. So, without further ado, let's get into it!

Yellowstone (Season 5) on November 13th (Paramount Network)
This Sunday marks the return of the Dutton family to our television screens. This season will embark on John Dutton's first term as the Governor of Montana along with his family in tow by his side. Now that the Dutton's are directly enforcing their power even in the political sphere, it seems they may have the stranglehold they have been looking for to keep their coveted land. The series created by Paramount's prize child, Taylor Sheridan, returns for its fifth season on Paramount Network with stars Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes and Cole Hauser all returning as well as last season's additions, Piper Perabo and Jacki Weaver. Yellowstone's fifth season will return with a two-episode premiere this Sunday, November 14th.

The Crown (Season 5) on November 9th (Netflix)
Another show making it to a fifth season is the historical drama, The Crown which features yet another time jump and new stars for the U.K. based Netflix original. The Crown's fifth season will focus on the royal family within the 1990s which featured the issues between Princess Diana and her husband, Charles before her untimely death in 1996 and also the reigns of John Major and Tony Blair as Prime Minister. The series is one of Netflix's most popular and with another Princess Diana portrayal, this time by Elizabeth Debicki (who looks MAGNIFICENT in the role) set to be on display, it should be a major hit for the streamer. Debicki, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Jonathan Pryce, Leslie Manville and Jonny Lee Miller star in this installment of the series. The Crown will return exclusively on Netflix this Wednesday, November 9th.

Mythic Quest (Season 3) on November 11th (AppleTV+)
Though admittedly, I haven't started this series yet, I have heard nothing but great things. Mythic Quest stars Rob McElhenney, best known for his role as Mac on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia as Ian Grimm, a video game creator who works at a fictionalized gaming studio along with the other cogs in the machine. Some have described the series as "The Office but for gamers." I'm looking forward to finally firing this show up soon and letting you guys know my thoughts! Season 3 of the AppleTV+ comedy series, Mythic Quest debuts on Friday, November 11th with two episodes and then a new episode following every Friday until the end of the season.

Tulsa King on November 13th (Paramount+)
You know that it's a big deal when a star the caliber of Sylvester Stallone heads to television. Not only is that prospect a major one but when Taylor Sheridan is involved and it involves the mob, it has the makings of what could be a breakout hit for Paramount+. Tulsa King stars Stallone as Dwight Manfredi, a New York mafia captain who has just been released from prison after 25 years and despite returning to his post, is immediately shipped off to run an operation in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It has all the makings of a crime series that also can have some comedic beats which is something that Sheridan's series (Yellowstone, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown) despite being great shows on their account, feels sorely missed at times. Tulsa King has an all-star cast and also stars Martin Starr, Andrea Savage, Jay Will, Max Casella, Vincent Piazza and Garrett Hedlund. The series premiere begins streaming on Sunday, November 13th on Paramount+.
