If you've been a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise for the past 20-plus years, than you know the series of films has continuously gotten crazier and crazier. However, one thing maintains at the center of the movies, they're all about keeping it in the family. Variety is reporting now that following his work on the upcoming Fast X, Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, Now You See Me) has been brought back to continue the legacy with Fast & Furious 11.

Leterrier came on to replace Justin Lin, who had previously directed five other Fast films following some creative disagreements between Lin and Vin Diesel, who produces and stars in almost all of the films as Dominic Toretto. Universal Pictures president Peter Cramer praised Leterrier's work as a last-minute sub and alluded to the high intensity he brought to the director's chair leading to his next big job.

Though Leterrier's last film prior to Fast X wasn't since 2016 with Sacha Baron Cohen led action-comedy, The Brothers Grimsby, he's done a lot of recent work in television. Most notably, he's worked hand-in-hand with Netflix, directing episodes of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and French breakout series, LupinLeterrier will direct multiple episodes of the upcoming AppleTV+ sci-fi series Dark Matter, led by Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly and Jimmi Simpson.

The Fast films are one of the most profitable movie franchises in the industry today, having earned over $6 billion in worldwide box office. Universal has released nine feature films so far, along with a spinoff franchise, Hobbs & Shaw led by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's characters. Fast has also spawned toys, video games, an animated series and theme park attractions as well.
