The Safdie Bros. are Assembling a Unique Cast for their upcoming Netflix Film; Ben Affleck Rumored to Join Already Confirmed Adam Sandler & Megan Thee Stallion

Uncut Gems is one of my personal favorites of all-time. I had loved the previous film, Good Time, written and directed by the brotherly directing duo, The Safdie's, but for me, Uncut Gems was a unique and special movie. An anxiety attack playing out on screen that featured arguably the greatest dramatic performance we've ever seen out of legendary funnyman Adam Sandler. Now, the duo is reuniting with the Sandman for a new movie at Netflix with some very interesting names attached to join as well.

News comes first from Deadline, that pop/rap star Megan Thee Stallion is circling the cast of the currently untitled film that will reunite Sandler with the Safdie Bros. However, we can confirm that the film will be based around the sports card collecting circus and will take place in the 1990s. As avid sports fans themselves, it makes sense for Sandler and the directing pair to center their latest around the recent resurgence and craze amongst sports memorabilia. Production is aiming to gear up this Summer.

Additionally, there is a rumor from Above the Line's Jeff Sneider via Twitter that Ben Affleck (Argo, Gone Girl) is joining the cast as well. Affleck is another enthusiastic sports fan whose latest directed film, Air, which hits theaters worldwide in just a couple of days also centers around the realm of sports, so this rumor smells about right.

Megan Thee Stallion has mostly appeared in television work across P-Valley, Good Girls and Marvel series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, however, she'll make her feature film debut very soon in the A24 R-Rated musical, F***ing Identical Twins. She'll star alongside Nathan Lane, Bowen Yang and Megan Mulally and will be directed by Borat director, Larry Charles.

As previously stated, Affleck stars and directs his latest feature, Air which is produced by Amazon Studios and his new production shingle, Artists Equity, alongside best friend and fellow creative artist, Matt Damon. He'll also reprise his take on Bruce Wayne and Batman in the upcoming DC Studios releases, The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Affleck also stars in Robert Rodriguez's Hypnotic which heads to theaters this May.
