As 'Deadpool 3' Gears Up for the Start of Production, Film Adds 'The Crown' Star Emma Corrin as the Villain

    I had started a features series titled Actor Showcase back in October which profiled some rising stars in Hollywood. I hope to continue that series soon but one of the actors I had featured within is Emma Corrin (The Crown, Lady Chatterly's Lover). The non-binary actor is getting their highest-profile gig yet with Corrin being cast in Deadpool 3 as the villain per Deadline.

    While many details about the long awaited and highly anticipated third entry into the Deadpool franchise remain scarce, we can confirm that Ryan Reynolds will return to star as the merc with the mouth, but the bigger news may be that Hugh Jackman is set to return as Wolverine in his MCU debut. The rights to the X-Men characters transferred to Disney once they completed their purchase of 20th Century Fox back in March 2019 which has led to Deadpool entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe full tilt. Deadpool 3 is what the film is currently being referred to though there have been sprinklings online that the title might be altered to Wolverine & Deadpool sparking a fourth wall breaking war as the popular X-Men character with claws could make Deadpool play second fiddle within his own franchise, leading to even more hilarity.

    The incredibly underrated talent Shawn Levy (The Adam Project, Stranger Things) will direct the third film in the franchise with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning to write the script after penning the first two. Fans are enamored with the team in place and that Deadpool will fully be entrenched within the MCU to interact with other fan-favorite characters. Deadline's report also notes that Marvel has been in contact with Corrin back from the Holidays where they had sought after them for a role in the raunchy R-rated comic book film but due to their busy schedule, were unable to lock in the role until now.

    Corrin is best known for their role in The Crown as Lady Diana Spencer which served as a breakout role for the actor as they won a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award whilst also garnering an Emmy and SAG Award nomination for the role. They also starred in two major romance films in 2022 with Netflix's Lady Chatterly's Lover and Amazon's My Policeman with Harry Styles. Corrin is next set to star in FX's Retreat from the creators of The OA which recently wrapped filming and they were also just cast yesterday in Robert Eggers' next title, Nosferatu.
