First Official Trailer for Ben Affleck-Matt Damon Collab 'AIR' Showcases Nike's Attempt to Lure Michael Jordan towards a Sneaker Empire

Just ahead of Super Bowl Sunday where we see tons of new trailers drop for films and series, MGM & Amazon have dropped the first trailer for a movie we're highly anticipating, AIR

The film follows Matt Damon as Sonny Vaccaro, a marketing executive at Nike, however, this isn't the Nike you know and love for their terrific broad appeal. It's 1984 and the company is in the dumps, especially their basketball shoe division. However, Phil Knight, the company CEO, played by Ben Affleck who also directs the film, encourages Vaccaro to find a way to get them more noticable and thus, Vaccaro attempts to lure the NBA's biggest new star Michael Jordan to help develop the iconic Air Jordan shoe. The film plays akin to other dramedies such as Jerry Maguire, The Big Short, etc. but this film will tell the account of how a once-thought impossible task to endorse Jordan would become a reality.

AIR will be the first time that Affleck directs longtime friend Damon in a movie, while it also boasts a heck of an ensemble that includes Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Chris Messina amongst others. What I liked about the trailer is the mixture of tones here but more so, how the movie treats Jordan like a mythical figure all his own.

AIR will hit theaters exclusively on April 5 before eventually getting a streaming release on Amazon Prime Video. Check out the trailer below for AIR!
