The
DC Cinematic Universe continues with its newest casting news. Just days after
Joe Manganiello was announced as Deathstroke for Ben Affleck’s solo Batman
film, The
Playlist is reporting that Billy Crudup has been cast as the
father to Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in The
Flash. The actor is known best for his roles in older films such as Sleepers and Almost Famous but has a tremendous recent run of roles that includes
roles in The Stanford Prison Experiment
(which Miller also starred in), Spotlight
and the upcoming, Jackie.
Crudup
joins a cast that in addition to Miller also has cast Kiersey Clemons as Iris
West. Allen’s father only recently became a big deal in Flash canon which has
him convicted for the murder of his wife, which might’ve actually been
committed by a supervillain. That storyline was actually written by the current
head of operations in DC Films, Geoff Johns, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to
see that adapted for the screen.
I
will say that Crudup is definitely believable as the father of Ezra Miller and
I’m excited to see what he can do in the role. He is also not a stranger to DC
comic book movies either as he starred in Watchmen
as Dr. Manhattan. The actor is set to be a part of Mike Mills next film, 20th Century Women and also
Ridley Scott’s next, Alien: Covenant.
The Flash is set to be directed by Rick
Famuyiwa (Dope) and will be released
on March 16th, 2018. For any more news about this film, be sure to
