Jared Leto is one of those actors who is a chameleon. He is always able to make a transformation in any role he has taken, seen most recently playing The Joker in Suicide Squad, it seems that he will be doing something similar with his next role. According to The Playlist, Leto has signed on to portray Pop Art legend, Andy Warhol.

This can turn out to be a tremendous role for Leto, one that could catapult him into awards conversation.  The actor won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the film, Dallas Buyers Club back in 2014 and this is the type of role that has Oscar written all over it. I’m excited to see what the actor can do with the role but also, I’m excited because Terence Winter (The Wolf of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire) will be writing the script. The screenwriter will use Warhol: The Biography as a starting point for his script of the biopic.

This won’t be the first time Warhol will be portrayed on screen as David Bowie did a terrific job portraying the icon in Basquiat, Guy Pearce played him in Factory Girl and even Bill Hader portrayed the artist in a comedic way in Men In Black 3. Leto will be seen next in Denis Villeneuve’s currently untitled Blade Runner sequel.
