The
first season of American Crime Story
was one of the best programs that was on television in 2016. Many have been
anticipating announcements for Season 2 that will cover the events of Hurricane
Katrina and now we have found out the first cast member for Ryan Murphy’s
anthology series. According to Collider,
Annette Bening has been cast as one of the leads in the show as she’ll play
Louisiana governor, Kathleen Blanco.
Katrina: American Crime Story will be
incredibly different from the first season that covered the murder trial on
former pro football player, O.J. Simpson, as this season will cover the deadly
Hurricane Katrina that occurred in August 2005. Even more so, the “crime”
element that it was a crime against the city of New Orleans that faced
disgusting incompetence from the government after the national disaster
happened. This could have all the same intense nature from last season’s
courtroom drama and have the disaster narrative pull on more heartstrings than
last season.
Season
2 of American Crime Story will be
released on FX at some point in 2018. In addition, it has been announced already
that Season 3 will follow the assassination on legendary designer Gianni
Versace by the serial killer, Andrew Cunanan. Also, it was just announced this
week that Season 4 will focus on Bill Clinton’s sex scandal while in office and
the ensuing events during his Presidency. Bening was just seen in the terrific
film, 20th Century Women along
with her husband Warren Beatty’s latest directorial effort, Rules Don’t Apply. She’s set to appear
next in The Seagull alongside Saoirse
Ronan, Elisabeth Moss and Corey Stoll.
