It
was only a matter of time for Thandie Newton to get some huge offers for films
due to her astounding performance as Maeve in the HBO series, Westworld. Not only did she get that
offer but she’s expected to take a role in a mega franchise within the Star
Wars universe. According to The
Playlist, Newton is in negotiations to star in the Han Solo spinoff movie.
Each
and every week it feels like another star is signing on to have a role in this
film as we just posted a few days ago about the casting of Fleabag star, Phoebe Waller-Bridge in a CGI-focused role. There is
no news on who Newton would play in the film but directors Chris Miller and
Phil Lord are currently filming. This is perfect casting in my eyes as Newton
has experience playing all different kinds of roles with plenty of range so she
should fit perfectly in another sci-fi project.
The
currently untitled Han Solo movie will be released on May 25th,
2018. For those who are concerned, Newton’s involvement in the Star Wars movie
won’t interfere with her filming for the second season of Westworld as that will begin shooting around late Summer or early Fall.
Newton is joined in the cast by Waller-Bridge, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson,
Emilia Clarke and Alden Ehrenreich who will play young Han Solo.
