Michael C. Hall set to play JFK in Season 2 of Netflix's 'The Crown'

            Looks like one of the most recognizable faces in TV history is returning to portray one of the most recognizable figures in U.S. history. According to Slashfilm, Michael C. Hall is joining Netflix series, The Crown to play former U.S. President, John F. Kennedy.

            Hall is best known for the titular role on the Showtime series, Dexter that ran from 2006-2013. Before then, he had a lead role on the HBO series, Six Feet Under as well. The Crown just had its first season in 2016 that chronicled the marriage of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The series has been widely acclaimed and won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series. Claire Foy and Matt Smith portray the royal family in the series and even John Lithgow, who portrays Winston Churchill in the show had a role alongside Hall in Dexter and won the award for Best Supporting Actor in that role at the Golden Globes.


            Season 2 is expected to pick up during the Suez Crisis in 1956 with the British army fighting an illegal war in Egypt. It should continue to run through the 60's and conclude with the resignation of Prime Minister Harold Macmillan in 1963. Kennedy was inaugurated in 1961 and assassinated just two year later, a few weeks after Peter Townsend stepped down. No premiere date has been announced for Season 2 yet but shooting is already underway.
