One
of the biggest breakout stars of 2016 was upcoming Oscar-nominee, Mahershala
Ali who starred in Moonlight. He also
had a villainous role in the Marvel series, Luke
Cage and did tremendous work there. Now, he’s joining an already exciting
project with big name stars attached. According to The
Playlist, Ali has joined the cast of Triple
Frontier alongside Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum.
The
film set to be directed by J.C. Chandor (A
Most Violent Year, Margin Call) will be an dramatic action film set in the
border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. Further details are currently
under wraps but with the talent attached in front and behind the camera, it
sure looks to be an intriguing movie. Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker) will also write the script, who
has an Oscar for the latter.
Ali
was seen not only in one film nominated for Best Picture in Moonlight, but also had a role in Hidden Figures which is also nominated
for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. He’ll be seen next in the indie film, Roxanne Roxanne that debuted at Sundance
before having a role in Robert Rodriguez’s Alita:
Battle Angel alongside Jennifer Connelly, Christoph Waltz and Rose Salazar.
