With
the recent delay of World War Z 2 in
which Brad Pitt was supposed to reprise his role as Gerry Lane, it seems there
is an opening on his schedule and he already has a potential project in mind.
According to Collider,
Pitt is looking to star in Ad Astra,
a sci-fi film directed by James Gray (We
Own the Night, Two Lovers)
Ad Astra centers around a slightly
autistic engineer whose father left 20 years ago on a mission to Neptune to
find signs of extra-terrestrials. As an adult, he plans to journey to find his
father and find out why his mission failed. I’m excited to see this come
together as Pitt has never really done a role like this especially in the
sci-fi genre. Him and Gray have been wanting to work together for years and was
originally set to lead Gray’s upcoming film, The Lost City of Z but the role eventually went to Sons of Anarchy star, Charlie Hunnam.
The movie is set to start filming in the summer so I assume negotiations will
be done quickly to get Brad Pitt on board.
Pitt
will be seen next in the Netflix film, War
Machine and was seen just last year in Robert Zemeckis’ war drama, Allied. He’s also acted as an executive
producer on Moonlight, which was just
nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars and has dipped his hat in TV as well
as he’s an executive producer on the Netflix series, The OA and the upcoming Ryan Murphy series, Feud.
