Well,
I guess you sort of just had to see this coming. After what seemed to be a
story book ending to the 2016-17 NFL season, Tom Brady is getting a book and
movie made about his historic comeback in Super Bowl LI. The writers of other
Boston “hero” stories Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson (The Fighter, The Finest Hours) have begun writing a book about the
New England Patriots quarterback, according to Collider.
The
film (and book) will focus on New England’s comeback victory in the biggest
sporting event of the year but also will include the controversial “Deflategate”
in which NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell suspended Brady for four games during
the regular season for “allegedly” underinflating footballs used in the AFC
Championship game against the Colts in the 2014-15 playoffs. You figured it was
only a matter of time that this would be made into a film, especially as Brady
is now arguably, the most successful quarterback in the history of football
with 5 Super Bowl Championships. It’s a little surprising knowing how soon it’s
happening but with Tamasy and Johnson on board to write the script, I think it
could turn out to be great.
The
movie also will head into the locker room to see what was happening behind the
scenes and though I can’t wait to see who’ll play Bill Belichick or even Roger
Goodell. I wish they would’ve waited to maybe have a biopic about his life
instead where we’d see Brady get selected in the draft at such a low position
and work his way back but I guess it’s hard to cover a career in which you’d
have to chronicle 5 Super Bowl victories. Are you guys interested in a movie
covering Tom Brady and his “rise” back up from infamy placed by Roger Goodell?
